Betty May Griffin, 94, died peacefully at home in Mustang on December 9,2017.
Betty was born in Oklahoma City on July 8, 1923 to St. Elmo and Lois
(Taylor) Petitt. She met Otto Alvin “Griff” Griffin via letters they exchanged
while he served during World War II. They married on May 2, 1946, exactly
one month after meeting face-to-face, and were married for 48 years,
until Alvin’s death on November 24, 1994.
Betty was always busy. She always found a way to make work enjoyable.
When she wasn’t working or caring for the people and animals in her life,
she was usually knitting or crocheting. She made personalized Christmas
stockings for all of her children, grandchildren, great-, and
great-great-grandchildren as well as for other friends and family
members. She also made lap blankets for elderly loved ones and lovely,
often personalized, hats for friends and family undergoing cancer
treatment. She frequently wrote poems about the mundane events of
every day or to include in cards and gifts. Betty was a member of Forest
Hill Christian Church in Oklahoma City for 60 years.
Betty is survived by her children Bonita (Bobby) Hansens, Charlotte
Breshears, Sue (Marvin) Hambrook, Otto “Bert” (Sandy) Griffin, Barbara
(Kenny) Violette, Tim Griffin, Steve Griffin, and Debbie Hall; grandchildren
