James F. Smart 1955-2017


James Francis Smart, “Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo”  61, of Oklahoma City passed away April 9th, 2017 after fighting respiratory illness the last several years.

The funeral and burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday April 17, 2017 Resthaven Memory Gardens 500 S.W. 104th Oklahoma City, OK

Jim was born in Muncie, Indiana November 15, 1955 to Frank and Christine ( Hamilton) Smart and graduated as a proud “Bearcat” from Muncie Central High School in 1973. While in High School Jim was active in both Basketball and Cross Country, and had a continuing love of Sports his entire life.  Jim spent time In Indiana, California and Washington growing up and was truly a man of the world.  

Jim was married to Juanita Sturgell in 1982, they were married for approximately 10 years and they had two beautiful daughters Jessica and Jamie.  

Jim worked as Mechanic and in several Construction trades after settling in Oklahoma City in his early 20’s. He could absolutely fix anything! He was also an avid reader and enjoyed documentaries. Jimmy was well known for dropping the knowledge on you concerning science, history, world affairs, etc.  Jim was quite the Pool shark too!  And, until his health interfered, loved to sing karaoke whenever he could!

Jimmy is survived by his daughters; Jessica and Jamie, Grandchildren; Matthew, Michelle, Marty and Amanda, (He was a Proud Grandpa!) mother, Christine Beadle, sister Laurie and her husband Ken Novotny, brother Buster Beadle, all of Oklahoma City.  Jimbo is also survived by sister Ronda and her husband Pat Reum  and brother Frankie and his wife Jamalyn, of Indiana.  Plus several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews,  and a multitude of cousins,  whom he loved very much!

Jim, is preceded in death by his father Frank Smart Sr and stepmom Sue.

While we are all deeply saddened by this loss we can take comfort in the fact he is now climbing the Stairway to Heaven…  

Viewing will be Sunday, April 16th from 4-6pm at the Absolute Economical Funeral Home in OKC, OK

Graveside services will be held at 11am on Monday, April 17th at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City.
