James Michael Nicklau (1955-2016)

Nicklau, James Edward 160822 deceasedJames Michael Nicklau 60 died on Monday Aug. 22, 2016.  He is the 3rd child of Louis G. and

Virginia L. Barnard Nicklau.  He Graduated from Owasso High School in 1974 and attended Spartan School of Aeronautics for a time.  One of his first jobs was as a grave digger, but he soon moved on to a career as a trim carpenter on custom homes for locations such as Oaktree, Val Verde, and Coffee Creek. He worked 3 ½ yrs for Brower Construction and Trim, and then went on to work for Vanderbuilt Cabinets and Trim.  After more than 25 years as a trim carpenter an injury left him unable to do carpentry except as a hobby which saddened him greatly.  He moved on to American Training Institute, and Completed a course in Computer Service Technology in 2000. He then worked for Creative Labs in Stillwater Oklahoma.  In 2003 he went to work for Oklahoma County Sheriffs Office and he worked their until his death; about 13 years.
He enjoyed fishing, shooting, and reading, and he liked to say that MAD magazine contributed to his “twisted sense of humor”. But the lights of his life were from the moments he spent as the beloved “Grampy”  to his grandchildren who miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife Cathy of 34 years, two boys Kenneth and Joseph and two daughters Samantha, and Mary his 10 grandchildren Trinity, Breanna, Kian, Emma, Madison, Hayley, Kenny Jr. Leland, Elijah and Kate.  He is also survived by his mother Virginia brother Paul and sister in law Margie cousins Jeff, Tony, Toni Lynn and Michael from the Tulsa area.  He was preceded in death by his father Louis, and brothers Steven, and Gregory.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Sept. 10th in the late afternoon at 2:00 pm at the Putnam City Baptist Church Located at 11401 N Rockwell.
